Hearthlight Lanterns
A decoration mod with one rule: every block has to be worth placing at night. Thirty-one lanterns, wall sconces, paper lamps and standing braziers, each with its own light level rather than a single copied value, so a lit corridor can be dim on purpose.
What is in it
- Eleven hanging lanterns in iron, copper, weathered copper and bamboo.
- Wall sconces that take a torch, a candle or a soul flame.
- Paper lamps in nine dye colours, tinted by the dye instead of restained.
- Candles that burn down over roughly four in-game days and can be replaced.
- A dimmer — right click a lantern with shears to drop its light by four levels.

Same story as everywhere else on this site: the file host is down and the links below it are not going anywhere useful today. The jars are unchanged since release, so a copy from a friend is as good as one from here.
Known issues
- Burning candles keep a block entity ticking. A hundred of them in one chunk is noticeable on a weak server.
- Paper lamps render behind water instead of through it. This is a vanilla render layer problem and will not be fixed here.
- Shaders that override block light will ignore the dimmer entirely.
Changelog for 1.6.0
- 1.21.4 support on both loaders, built from one source tree at last.
- Weathered copper lanterns now oxidise in stages like the block does.
- Candle burn rate slowed by a third after a year of people saying it was too fast.
- Fixed sconces dropping nothing when broken with a pickaxe.
